The project
The new building on Dorfstrasse in Uetendorf comprises two structures, each with three full storeys and an attic storey. Both buildings are connected via a shared basement with a parking garage for over 20 cars, a spacious bicycle room and basement and utility rooms. The upper floors contain 18 apartments, all with attractive south-facing and partly west-facing outdoor spaces. The two buildings were constructed above ground in timber, while the basement and stairwells are made of reinforced concrete.

The construction method
The buildings were constructed using sustainable timber element construction, with both the interior and exterior walls consisting of prefabricated timber elements. Horizontal glued laminated timber (glulam) was used for the floor slabs and the roof, which guarantees the required stability. This construction method combines ecological responsibility with modern living comfort and creates a healthy indoor climate.

The challenge
The subsequently concreted stairwells posed a challenge, as the apartments were not directly accessible via stairs. The timber construction could be erected quickly and without steel parts thanks to its precision fit. Individual customer requirements could be flexibly accommodated in the execution planning.
