The «best architects award» is one of the most prestigious architectural awards. The jury recently honored 81 projects with the «best architects 22 award» - among them a conspicuous number of timber construction projects. Timbatec congratulates all winners and is pleased to be involved in several winning projects.

The «best architects 22 award» has been decided. 81 projects were honored with the «best architects 22 award». In addition, 10 projects received the best architects 22 gold award for their particularly outstanding quality. With over 400 submissions, one of the highest numbers of participants in the history of the award was achieved. The large number of outstanding timber construction projects is gratifying. This clearly proves that good architecture and sustainable wood as a building material go hand in hand into the future. Timbatec is particularly pleased about the award for the projects in which we were able to contribute our know-how as specialist planners. This year these are the Werkhof Matzingen von Lilin Architekten and the multi-family house on Witikonerstrasse von Baumberger & Stegmeier. We congratulate the architects and thank them for the successful cooperation.

Werkhof Matzingen

Domestic wood dominates at the new works yard in Matzingen. The building was completed after a construction period of around one year and was officially inaugurated at the end of September 2019. Photo: Lucas Peter

Werkhof Matzingen

The new, modern works yard provides the municipality of Matzingen with the necessary infrastructure to meet the high demands. Thanks to local wood and local craftsmanship, the added value remains in the region. The light-flooded rooms provide the employees with contemporary workplaces. Photo: Lucas Peter

Witikonerstrasse

In the quiet Witikon neighborhood, the PWG Foundation had 38 new apartments built, which were occupied in summer 2020. These affordable apartments are sought after in the rather more expensive neighborhood of the city of Zurich. Photo: Jürg Zimmermann, Zurich

Witikonerstrasse

The two apartment buildings on Witikonerstrasse were designed as a classic hybrid construction with load-bearing concrete ceilings and non-load-bearing exterior walls in timber frame construction. A vertical, red-painted inverted formwork made of spruce/fir was used as the facade cladding. Photo: Jürg Zimmermann, Zurich
